Navigating the Freelancing Journey: Recap of DevTalk on The Ins and Outs of Freelancing From Finding Clients to Getting Paid

We are excited to share highlights from our recent session, "DEVTALK: The Ins and Outs of Freelancing From Finding Clients to Getting Paid," held on May 18, 2024, at the PBL Lab, KICT. This pivotal event, led by the distinguished Br. Luqman Hakim, founder of Forthify, was a comprehensive guide through the freelance landscape, attended by a dynamic group of over 20 participants eager to carve out their success in freelancing.

Luqman's presentation covered a wide array of topics crucial for aspiring freelancers, from identifying the right niche and building a strong portfolio, to mastering the art of negotiation and ensuring timely payment. His insights into establishing a personal brand and leveraging freelance platforms for client acquisition were particularly valuable, resonating deeply with our attendees.

One of the session's highlights was Luqman's focus on the importance of understanding the freelancing model versus part-time jobs, emphasizing the flexibility and potential of freelancing as a career choice. He shared essential tips on effective client communication, project management, and the critical need for securing payments, which are foundational for thriving in the freelance economy.

The club's president, Hakim Nazri, remarked, "Br. Luqman’s deep understanding of the freelance world and his practical advice have undoubtedly equipped our members with the tools they need to succeed. His engaging delivery and the interactive discussions enriched this learning experience."

This session was not just about gaining knowledge but also about applying it effectively; as Luqman quoted Zig Ziglar, "You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great." Inspired by these words, our participants left the workshop ready to embark on their freelancing journeys, armed with the insights and inspiration needed to navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead.
